What misconceptions are known about mobile phones?
We can no longer imagine life without a mobile phone wearable. This device is so firmly “blended” with our reality that it is not even believed that some two decades ago few people heard about cellular communications at all. But, as they say, yesterday that seemed to us fantastic, now technological progress has made an ordinary occurrence.
Of course, all this is good.
And the only minus is that not everyone understands the features of new technologies and in their judgments about mobile phones make serious mistakes, which are common misconceptions in society. Perhaps the most well-known misconception is that supposedly mobile phones cause brain cancer with their radiation. However, medicine does not have information that the frequency of this disease in humans is somehow related to the use of mobile phones.
The radiation of a mobile phone gives. But it is not so strong as to “boil” the brain, and communication standards are limited to a safe level. In fact, the myth that the cell phone, it is said, causes brain cancer, was launched in the media at the beginning of this century by workers of ordinary telephone exchanges. The reason for this “stuffing” of doubtful information is that people began to refuse wired services, preferring cheaper mobile.
The misconception that radiation from a mobile phone can be shielded with home-made devices sold on the black market by craftsmen from electronics is very tenacious. Usually this is a metal case, where a mobile phone is put. On the outside of the case there are two small red and green LEDs. In red light, the radiation dose is supposedly exceeded, in green, everything is fine.
The study of the “filling” of the protective cover shows that inside there is a simple little diagram of a dozen cheap radio components. As you may have guessed, it turns on at the time of a call or reception and works like an acoustic relay. For this “miracle” from the phone user, “rescuers” ask for a round sum. And there are gullible people who part with their hard-earned money, not realizing that the mobile signal travels at completely different frequencies than the frequency of the “protective” device.
Many people think that an expensive mobile phone should always show a maximum of “sticks” on the screen (their number indicates reliable communications) – even when all other phones stop displaying these same “sticks”. Alas, another gross error. The fact is that the signal level coming from the cellular mast is exactly the same for all receiving devices. And there is no such thing as the sensitivity of a mobile phone. Just the number of “sticks” on the screen depends on how the antenna is located inside the phone and how it relates to the direction of the mast.
The cost of the phone depends on what features it is equipped with, what materials are used in the decoration of the case and how much power the battery has inside. All other components are almost the same for all mobile phones, if we talk only about the functions. The difference can only be in the company and the design. Much less often – for a set of additional functions.
So there is no particular reason to spread extra money when buying a phone if its value does not affect your image in any way. By the way, the cost of a mobile phone also significantly depends on how the brand of an advertising manufacturer is presented in society. Those who believe that the best quality is worth a lot of money are mistaken. At times, everything is exactly the opposite – just the advertisement speaks of the poor purchase of a mobile device. And it is bought unimportantly, including because of its imperfection. Becoming the owner of such a mobile phone, you then still suffer a lot from him.
