What should I do if moisture gets into my mobile phone?

One of the signs of modern life is that each member of the family has his own individual mobile phone. Gone are the days when a household telephone was shared, wired to the telephone exchange and it was possible to call from home only in the order of priority, if someone picked up the phone before you.

Of course, a personal mobile phone is not only calls from it, sending and receiving SMS, but also much more. In fact, the mobile phone has long become our main assistant: it has a calendar, an alarm clock, a notebook, a calculator, games, a photo and video camera, a video and audio player, and much more. And all this can sometimes be lost in seconds if water gets into the device.

Alas, mobile phones with good moisture protection are still rarely seen on sale. Yes, and they are very decent. So, you need to take care of your gadget and prevent moisture from entering it. Well, if force majeure happens and the water still falls into it, how to save a mobile device? If you are planning a vacation, think about protecting your phone in advance. Photo: Depositphotos The first and most important way to avoid malfunctions and keep your mobile phone in working condition is to immediately remove the battery from it.

The faster this is done, the higher the chances that there will be no catastrophic consequences from “bathing”. Of course, it is difficult to foresee the circumstances when exactly you “redeem” the mobile phone. Therefore, train at the speed of extracting the battery from it. As a rule, if you managed to get it in no more than 10 seconds, you can count on the fact that in an emergency you will save your phone from failure.

It is very important to have time to see what position the phone was in when water got into it. Typically, water penetrates from the screen into the gaps. This can be spray when washing (the phone is placed on the side of the sink), when washing dishes (phone on the table), in the rain, and so on. Immediately after removing the battery, you need to quickly and strongly start shaking the phone so that moisture by inertia will fly out of it. You can insert the battery back into such a phone only after a day. Not earlier! The thing is that water contains mineral salts and they can settle on the contacts of microcircuits inside the case.

And water under certain circumstances becomes a good conductor of currents, even with a minimum voltage. Do not close the cabinet until you are sure that everything is dry inside. For reliability, you can very carefully wipe all the contacts with a dry cotton swab or cotton cloth wound around a match, and dab it with a paper towel. Practice removing the battery from your phone

Unfortunately, the water after drying leaves a white salt coating. He is also a conductor of electricity. Therefore, take this useful advice into service – use a strong magnifying glass to carefully remove all salt deposits inside the phone. Pay special attention to the areas between the contacts. Wipe the circuit board with alcohol (not water!) – there should be no dust on it.

The peculiarity is that dust microparticles, when moisture enters, are gradually converted into conductive paths. And this is fraught with closures. After drying the phone, do not forget to carefully examine all the contacts in it. Inspect the battery carefully and clean its contacts with alcohol. This should be done even if you did not notice anything suspicious on the contacts and between them – maybe an oxide that is completely invisible even through a powerful magnifier.

It was formed even before bathing the phone, and moisture removed a dark film from it. If you drop your phone in a bath or in a river, you have to carry it for repair by a specialist. Photo: Depositphotos It is very desirable to have a special cover for the phone. If for some reason there isn’t, then make a small transparent plastic bag something like a cover. It’s only one minute, but in rainy weather a homemade case will save you a mobile phone. A lot depends on the duration of the “bathing” of the mobile phone and the amount of moisture that has got into it.

If you drop the phone in the bathtub or while fishing in the river, then here you can practically be one hundred percent sure that it will not work to reanimate it yourself – you will have to carry it to the specialist for repair. Often the cost of such repairs is very high. So protect your mobile phone from accidental moisture!
